Do you remember your last seaside holidays? How absolutely amazing it was watching the beautiful sunset, walking on the sand along the beach, swimming in turquoise water, listening to soft waves crashing on the shore, taking the sunbath, and breathing a fresh marine air. Did you feel relaxed and unstressed after your trip?
Seawater and air boost your health and well-being. The healing properties of seawater and marine products are well-known and have been used for two centuries. Hippocrates, Plato, Galen, and Aristotle recommended seawater bathing. Patients with stress, depression, psoriasis and tuberculosis were advised to take a trip to the seaside. Many researchers found that spending time by the ocean or sea has positive effect on human health and well-being.

Sea air contains many minerals, ozone, and a trace of elements such as iodine, selenium, magnesium, and bromine. The study done by the European Centre for Environment and Human Health, based on 2001 census data in England, shows that people, who live near the coast, feel healthier in comparison to those who live away from the shore. The travelers, who take a beach vacation, experience the positive effects of the marine climate as well. The sea air is very beneficial for people with metabolic disorders, functional diseases of the nervous system and respiratory diseases.

Healing effects of seawater on our health and well-being are substantial. Seawater contains 83 minerals, including chloride, sodium, magnesium, sulfate, calcium, and potassium. One liter of seawater contains approximately 35 mg of salt with the exception of Dead Sea water that has 29% of salt. Dead Sea water shows significant improvement in the treatment of psoriasis and eczema.

Thalassotherapy is a treatment based on marine therapeutic effect of seawater, sunlight, sea air, and sea climate aims to boost the immune system and prevent illnesses. Thalassa is a Greek word that means sea. Different types of thalassotherapy treatments at health spa resorts are used for stress, rehabilitation after accident or surgery, skin disorder, circulatory problems, chronic digestive diseases of the musculoskeletal system, chronic inflammatory bone and joint diseases, and back pain. Each resort specializes in the treatment of different medical conditions. Medical spa resorts offer seawater, marine mud, and seaweed-based treatments. All medical procedures are personalized for each client according to their individual health conditions.

Some of the therapeutic procedures for Thalassotherapy's treatment include:
Hydrotherapy - seawater and seaweed bath, underwater massage and shower, jet and affusion shower, hand and foot bath, aqua gym, etc.
Physiotherapy – different massages, electrotherapy, exercise, reflexology, aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage, pressotherapy, etc.

The eight day thalassotherapy curative vacation will improve your health and wellbeing. The long-term benefits of treatments will last 6-9 months. You will feel energized, rejuvenated and refreshed. A variety of medical spa resorts in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, France, Greece, Bali, Israel, Jordan, Estonia, Slovenia, Poland, and Egypt offer thalassotherapy treatments.
